Love for Humanity
We are a foundation for sustainable projects which is mainly a community empowerment program aimed at facilitating development projects to create opportunities for rural marginalised youth. An initiative founded by the Ghanaian artist and writer Seyram Agbleze whose practice mainly advocates for social justice. The foundation is considered a next stage progression of his practice- moving from raising awareness about the problem to now helping address the problem (community marginalisation) with creative solutions that alleviate poverty for human dignity. Projects are funded by proceeds from his art practice but is now expanding to collaborations from well meaning institutions and individuals. The foundation is of the firm belief impactful development needs to have a bottom up approach instead of the usual up to bottom approach with government interventions leading to bad results. Most rural communities in Africa are normally neglected by the governments and do not get their fair share of the national cake aside the external factors faced with respect to unfair economic exchanges with the outside world which stem from historical antecedents. Africa’s issues of economic hardship, insecurity, illegal migration amongst others can only be mitigated by addressing root causes. In present times their plight is compounded by factors such as the negative impacts of climate change and rural communities are most affected. We aspire to bring meaningful progress into the lives of people in these communities.
Love for Humanity are stepping in to do things differently by putting the people at the heart of its operations. We believe in the multiplier effect of improving the livelihoods in deprived communities directly. The underpinning philosophy of our operations come from the African philosophy of Adinkra Interconnectedness and Ubuntu that highlight our shared humanity.
